Session 140 - Save the children

The party up north had settled down for the night and were fast asleep with Maevis on guard. Out of the darkness she saw Hivernian tribesmen rushing at her. She awoke Dan who rushed at the tribesmen, hitting one a brutal blow. The Hivernian ran but 3 more took his place. The rest of the party started waking up.

The asleep Van Petrol was badly stabbed by two Hivernians coming over the south wall. Helmund threw a dagger into the eye of one, killing him. The rest of the Hivernians decided that the party were not easy pickings and fled back into the darkness.

In the south, the rest of the group moved north. Sir Joe resisted the influence of the Goblin Leach Sword to kill Brodrir. The sword whispered to Sir Joe that he should be heading west to Khundrukar to avenge the defeat of the goblins. Brodrir said if the party wanted to head to the Winter Palace, it’d be advisable to go via the Dwarf Road. Gunatha the Lifeless, the ruler of Vaugmar, was offering a title and land to anybody who could reopen the road.

Heading north the party encountered Belia, a misshapen old woman, and 3 children. She said she had rescued the children from their own parents who did not care for them. Something did not feel right and Joyce, the smallest child, admitted that Belia had eaten one of them when food ran short. The party let Belia go but kept the children. Mina and other party members tried to impress the children with stories of their exploits but Freya, the eldest said her mum could do better.

A while later the children’s mothers introduced themselves to the party by firing an arrow at Sir Joe. The children gladly ran to their mothers. The Frostbitten Moons vowed to take vengeance on Belia for the death of Ragna. Ariel thanked the party saying they would not kill them if they ever encountered them in the Devoured Lands.
