Session 1 - Dead in the water

You unfortunate souls from Hroogpith were freezing on an Aquilonian slave barge. Arrows hit the barge and the sounds of screaming were heard outside. The escape was on. Bob was facing off against the slavers guard dog which ripped his throat out. Gertrude Strongfingers broke her bonds and forced the dog’s head onto its spiked collar. Many slaves gathered round the torch to burn the bonds off. 

At the other end of the barge, Johnny the Axe got up onto the bow of the boat. He found the Aquilonian slavers dying from arrows fired by Hivernian reavers. Some of the slavers were running and jumping into the water rather than fight. A dark shape in the water started following the swimmers.

Steve got up into the stern of the boat and found the chests that contained your stolen equipment. Thorto the dwarf grabbed his stuff too. You started jumping on the ice floes between the barge and the dock. Brother Joseph organised the escape of the other slaves. Navarron the elf nearly got dragged down by an anchor fish but luckily managed haul himself onto the freezing ice. 

The Hivernian reavers defeated the remaining slavers and as people were trying to escape started firing into the water. Gertrude Strongfingers got hit by an arrow and fell into the water, never to be seen again. Brother Joseph died trying to help the other slaves. Between the anchor fish and the Hivernians only 5 of the other slaves made it to the bank. 3 of the Aquilonian slavers escaped into the dark forest.
