Session 116 - A bitter breakfast
The party managed 2 breakfasts in Salix’s mansion before getting out of the broken front door. You were greeted by a cheering crowd. They were saddened by the news of the death of Chief Kolyan, Ireena, Ismark and Duca. Bildrath the merchant introduced the party to a heavily cloaked man called Balda.
Balda was nervous about being attacked by the followers of the Bloody Tongued God. When the party showed him Salix’s body, the body wasn’t there. Balda said Salix was one of Orcus’ most favoured high priests and had been resurrected into different bodies many times over the years.
Van Petrol gave Balda some alcohol and he started opening up. He’d been a servant to Yalvan Windshaper at the request of King Yalaring and Queen Vania. Yalvan, Caliadne, Publius Sharpaxe and Bluebird the shaman had found something in the temple to Orcus in Rappan Athuk that had changed them all for the worse. Only Balda himself and Annen Sone had seemed unaffected. Balda witnessed a massive ceremony at the Lighting Hill where the hill itself came alive and consumed all the worshippers apart from Yalvan’s party and a cloaked figure. He saw a huge host of creatures waiting to take over the world. Balda descended into drunkenness, Bildrath and Parriwimple took him home.
Amersh went home to find his wife, Joane, and kids sitting at his breakfast table with another man. Amersh turned around and walked away, tears in his eyes. Joane asked Alice for news of Amersh. Alice said that a lot of people had met their end in Lord Malbleat’s Castle. Amersh decided that wasn’t even going to ask Van Petrol to retrieve his notebooks and kept walking.t
After that the party restored their spirits with a discounted shopping trip in Bildrath’s Mercantile. Alice swapped a silk robe and some other knick knacks for a box of the artifacts that Bildrath had been selling to Lord Salix. She tried to cast detect magic but caused a rain of rotten vegetables instead. Maggot found someone willing to sell a pony.
