Session 106 - Burning mummy

Mivian flew down into the pyramid and saw an upside down room with a mummy at the bottom. Graben was roped down. The mummy said it was Hunabkai, imprisoned for rebelling against the bat god. As it got close to Graben it released a swarm of flesh eating beetles. 

Graben was hauled back up with the swarm of beetles trying to break through his crystal skin. He threw his torch at Hunabkai, setting him on fire. Meanwhile the 2 Hivernian ghouls turned by Graben last time lurched back into view. Malice cast choking cloud on the ghouls. Mina, Sam and Joe’s attacks on the swarm proved ineffective. 

Chad eventually hauled Graben out of the shaft but the beetle swarm flowed over everybody standing at the top of the shaft. The burning mummy climbed out of shaft, grabbing at Graben. Malice moved the fog cloud to cover the party, killing the beetles but causing a lot of damage. Sam collapsed forcing Chad to lift him down the pyramid. Mina cast sanctuary over the whole cavern and converted Mivian to Ishtar. 

At the bottom of the pyramid, the Hivernian ghouls again told Joe to leave but couldn’t break the sanctuary. Thruz rushed into attack but was sorely wounded. Malice moved the choking cloud back down and killed the 2 ghouls. Back at the top, Mivian tried casting enlarge on Graben but enlarged Hunabkai instead. Graben used his new crystal form to punch through the force holding the burning mummy together.

After the fight Mina healed Sam but when attempting to heal Mivian sensed that Ishtar’s power was starting to run weak. Mivian flew back into the pyramid and examined the items by the throne. You have a bad feeling that something has been attracted by the commotion…
