Session 65 - Dead again

The bear launched down the steps and freed Dushi Sone from the crocodile’s grasp. She made her way to the top of the steps, obviously wounded and weakened. Joe attacked, forcing the crocodile to retreat into the water.

The crocodile surged back out but the bear was waiting and thus ensued a titanic struggle. The bear used its weight to pin the crocodile forcing it to retreat into the water while Joe and Chad attacked. The bear hugged the crocodile, while it disappeared  under water. Chad, in a herculean feat of strength pulled both the bear and the crocodile back onto the steps. 

After several more attacks, the crocodile got overwhelmed by the sustained strength of the bear. Joe flew into a battle rage for the second time that day and cut the crocodile into pieces. Sam Orm was dead again. 

The party recovered the body of the dead fisherman and found that it too was covered in scales. Mina and Joe went outside. With news of the end of the plague a crowd started slowly assembling and cheering. However when Tane and Mina started campaigning against the crocodiles, most in the crowd grew unhappy.

Again Mina tried to persuade another crowd against the crocodiles and got a frostier reception with muttering and funny looks. With most of the party riding bears through the main gate, more of a crowd formed in the upper citadel, with clapping and cheering. 

The party gained an audience with the queen. She expressed more gratitude. A wounded hunter came in through the door, part of the group that was hunting Dan, Stan, Maevis and Van Petrol. He said that they’d been attacked by a demon on the road to Izabra. Krogar sacrificed a goat and confirmed the man’s tale as true and a sign of the weakening protection of Valar. A stupified Joe eventually agreed to hunt the demon down. Queen Vania thought that he was a shoe in for master hunter next year what with all the beasts that had been slain or captured.
