Sessions 10 & 11

Session 11 - Stan and Dan, a chance too many

Mina, Hogwash, Gina and Joe were gifted beautiful fox fur cloaks by Queen Vania for their heroic actions in trying to save King Yalaring. Hogwash became a member of the city guard. Queen Vania asked them to try and find her son Yalvan, offering a1000gp reward for his safe return.

Stan and Dan tried to steal some horses from the woodcutters. They successfully knocked out one woodcutter then made a mad dash for the horses. Dodging past the chasing woodcutters and making it to the horses, they cut a rope and mounted the horse. It was bad luck the work horse did not like having them on its back and started bucking. Scrambling to stay on, Dan was knocked off by a heavy blow from one of the woodcutters. Stan was thrown off and kicked by the horse on the way down for good measure. At the feet of the rearing horse they were surrounded and dispatched by felling axes.

Bowie scouted the bloody scene and alerted the rest of the party. As the woodcutters were wondering if killing the two outlaws would get them rewarded by Queen Vania, a vengeful party crept up. Bowie and Van Petrol glided in and unleashed mayhem. Billy shot one in the back with his bow. Mo and Barrett rushed forward, laying waste with polearm and sword.

Afterwards the party checked on Stan and Dan. Amazingly Dan was alive but had taken a permanent injury from the horrific axe wounds. Stan was too far gone and had left to swim with Ushin and the otters for eternity.

Session 10 - The death of the King

Everyone made it out across the lake alive and to cold safety. Billy returned the crocodile boat to the beach. Stan and Dan saw a shooting star land somewhere in the northwest.

King Yalaring received a message and left for the library. Mina, Hogwash, Gina and Joe joined the search for the outlaws but they'd fled by boat. Queen Vania called it a night, promising to resume the search in the morning.

A messenger came for Mina and everyone went to the library where they found the door to the King's room locked. A fruitless search for the keys and the breaking down of the door opened on a grisly scene. King Yalaring lay dead on the floor and two gargoyles were escaping out the window.

A fight ensued in which one of the gargoyles escaped and one was brought to the floor. Mina desperately tried to revive King Yalaring but Ishtar did not answer her call. The party recovered many documents from the room, including some that the gargoyles had tried to steal. It turned out that King Yalaring's son had been trying to find out why Valar's sacrificial offerings had been bankrupting the temples. On learning of the death of the King, Queen Vania ordered everyone out of the King's room.
